We start the tour from under the railroad station in Gdansk. We head towards the Provincial Office on Okopowa Street, then head to the Nizinna Gate and continue along the Motława River to Tczew. You can stick to the red bicycle trail. On the way we pass Grabiny Zameczek (here you can see the remains of a small Teutonic castle)Suchy Dąb, Czatkowy and we reach Tczew. Driving along Czatkowska Street then Łąkowa Street we further turn into 1 Maja Street and then Jana z Kolna Street we will reach the historic bridge. Before the bridge, we turn right and continue on the bicycle path along the Vistula River promenade. After leaving the bike path, we go straight along the Vistula River all the time (in places we go along narrow poln...with paths and dirt roads) to reach Bałdowo where we turn left and reach Berlinka. After crossing Berlinka to Gniew itself, we stick to the Black Bike Trail. In the village of Rybaki, you can see a historic hydrotechnical junction. In Gniew, we visit the Teutonic Castle and the Market Square. Then we go to the Vistula River where we use the ferry to cross to the other bank (the crossing is free). From the ferry we head to the village of Janowo in which we turn left and follow the R1 (green) bicycle trail to Biala Gora where there is a set of locks. From Biala Gora we stick to the Black Bike Trail and easily reach Berlinka and further to Lisewo Malborskie where we cross the Vistula with a historic bridge and head to the train station in Tczew. We return to Tricity by rail.

The Lower Vistula black bike trail has little surprises along the route. I rode the whole thing to Toruń. I have attached one map for now. The section to Gniew is relativelyeasy. Further on as someone does not like to get tired on forest roads you can go off-trail on the highways.

  • Super route, you can still modify it and go for example to Kwidzyn , Grudziądz or Bydgoszcz.

  • I also drove this route. Only to Gdansk I returned on wheels because it is better to stay away from railroads especially in these times
