A relatively young city, founded in the early 19th century, seems to be much older than its official age, since the settlement in these parts existed since the 14th century. Katowice is famous for its abundance of museums: even a short list of all establishments is respected. A look in the past is offered by historical, archaeological museums, a museum of antique interiors and a modern observatory and planetarium. It is impossible not to visit one of the most favorite places of the locals - Kościuszko Park, located in an area of 72 hectares, with a wonderfully decorated flower beds, sculptures and the unique wooden church of St. Arhangela Mihaila, built back in 1510. And passing near the Cathedral, you have to take a picture with the monument of Pope John Paul II, a copy of the statue from the capital of Uruguay.
