From Pieniężno to Lake Taftovo

We will start this tour at the Monastery of the Verbist Fathers in Pieniężno. The monastery itself is worth a look. The Verbists are engaged in missionary activities hence have collected a number of souvenirs from various parts of the world. Nearby there is also a beautiful reserve of the Walsza River, which takes on the character of a mountain river here. It is worth going there and taking a walk along its banks, especially since an educational path has been laid out there (best done on foot). You can leave your bicycle at the monastery, where you can also find accommodation and order meals. Standing with our backs to the monastery, we go left to the center of Pieniężno. On the way we cross a truss bridge over the railroad tracks (one of the highest railroad bridges in Poland). Behind the m...Thist drive along Kosciuszko Street, then turn right into 1 Maja Street. We reach the market with it and from there with Ornecka street we get to the road No. 507. On it we turn left and now all the way to Henrykow. There we turn right towards the village of Glebiska. After passing through this village, there is a clear wide gravel road diverging to the left (marking - Lake Taftowo). We turn left on it and arrive at the destination of our trip. There is a campsite, a swimming area and the lake itself is beautifully located surrounded by a magnificent forest. At the site you can also have a bite to eat something warm and, of course, take a bath (this is in summer, of course). I recommend!

• Another excerpt from my several-day tour of Warmia a few years ago. I recommend a ride along this route. Traffic is light and the lakeside is a fairy tale!
