The construction of the open-air museum began in 1968.Two objects were acquired and transferred to the new open-air museum: a town house from Chrzanow from 1804 and a granary from Koscielec from1798.After a period of several months of penetration of the area, other objects found their way here, including a magnificent reeve's cottage from Przegini Duchowna from 1862, with exceptionally rich, original interior furnishings. In subsequent years, further objects of wooden architecture were acquired: cottages, barns, granaries, a pigsty, a blacksmith shop and an oil mill, as well as a historic church from Ryczów from the early 17th century. The official opening and opening to the public of the first objects took place as early as October 1973.
