04.10.2015It is an artificial water reservoir created by partitioning the Vistula riverbed at the level of Wloclawek with a dam. It stretches all the way to Plock and is the second largest in terms of capacity.ci largest artificial reservoir in Poland. Wloclawek Lagoon is an attractive place not only for water sports enthusiasts and anglers. Due to the forests stretching along the Lake, which are part of the Gostynin-Wloclawski Landscape Park, people from all over Poland come here in search of relaxation, silence and contact with nature. The place is also associated with the story of the martyrdom of Father Jerzy Popieluszko, who was abducted, tortured and then drowned in the currents of the Vistula River. His corpse was fished out near the dam in Wloclawek, and to commemorate this cruel event a cross was erected here, transferred from the altar at which Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in Wloclawek during one of his pilgrimages to Poland.
