Lighthouse

The first Kolobrzeg "lighthouse" lit up as early as 1666. At the time, light signals were transmitted from one of the port towers. More than 200 years later, a building was designed specifically for this purpose. Until 1909, the structure was based on half-timbered technology, but it was decided to convert the building to brick. Unfortunately, during the hostilities in March 1945, it was destroyed. Fortunately, the tower was able to be rebuilt just two years later. The building later also underwent a major renovation in 1979-1981. The light of the 26-meter high lighthouse can be seen from almost 30 kilometers away. The Kolobrzeg lighthouse is located at 1 Morska Street, at the mouth of the Parsęta River to the Baltic Sea. It is open to the public. Space on the second floor of the tower has been allocated for an exhibition gallery, where thematic exhibitions are held, usually related to the heritage of the town. Near the tower are numerous restaurants, as well as the harbor, pier, central beach and the Monument to Poland's Wedding to the Sea. The miniature Kolobrzeg Lighthouse is located in the Miniature Lighthouse Park located in Niechorze.

  • The origins of the lighthouse date back to the early 18th century. The current building, erected on a 1770 fort at the entrance to the port and at the same time at the mouth of the Parsęta River to the Baltic Sea, dates from the1947, has a height: 26 m, light range: 29.6 km, and is both a monument to the victory over Germany (plaque with the words: To the heroes fallen in the fight against the Nazi invaders for freedom and independence.... (until 1992: ...for freedom and independence of the Soviet Union and the Polish People's Republic)) and an architectural monument. After a major renovation in 1979-1981, it was opened to the public. The lighthouse is located between the Niechorze Lighthouse (about 34 km west) and the Gąski Lighthouse (about 22 km east).
