    Very good Stay: July 2013

Restoration of the castle and the tower is underway, so you need to be patient and check online first to see if the attraction is already open for tourists. Which does not mean that to Kazimierfor driving should not, because in addition to the castle there is so much to see that it is worthwhile to develop the weekend in this way

It's really worth going to Kazimierz Dolny, from the castle super views of the city and the Vistula River, there is somewhere to walk, you can buy cool souvenirs and take super pictures ;) I recommendas much as

  • The castle in Kazimierz was built, according to Jan Długosz, in the 1440s on the initiative of King Casimir the Great. It was located on a hill near thea pre-existing solitary tower, presumably built during the reign of Wladyslaw Lokietek. Both structures were primarily intended to protect the city and the nearby Vistula River crossing from incursions by Tartar hordes. The full outline of the perimeter walls, the walls of the dwelling houses and fragments of the northern tower, the ground floor of which now houses a souvenir store, have survived to the present day. The tower is well preserved. From its terrace, finished with blanks (after reconstruction), one can admire the panorama of Kazimierz and the beautiful valley of the Vistula River.
