The building was erected in the 2nd half of the 18th century (on the site of an earlier one), and burned down in 1853. It was rebuilt and expanded for residential function in1886 (for some time a bakery also operated right next door). Today, it houses Poland's only Museum of Goldsmiths' Art (a branch of the Nadwiślańskie Museum) with rich collections of Judaica, Catholic ceremonial silver, table silver, and a collection of jewelry, among others.
