The building, in the style of the Italian Renaissance from the end of XIX was originally owned by Bernhard Schwersenz, a wealthy Jewish construction entrepreneur and owner of 5 brickyards, then by the Skomorowski family. The facility was opened to the public on December 12, 1976. 50 years after the poet's death. The house where Jan Kasprowicz was born burned down in 1916. The current building was erected on a plot of land that Kasprowicz inherited from his mother. It was built with the financial support of the Kuyavia bard. The house was inhabited by the poet's sister Anna Roliradova. Visitors can see authentic memorabilia of the Kasprowicz family. The house is also furnished with furniture made by Prof. Jozef Kozlowski, an artist from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, on the model of the original ones.
