As for me, it is a symbol of Gdansk. The promenade by the crane is a great place to sit for a while, relax and soak up the atmosphere of Gdansk's old town.
04.05.2014You can see, a cool impression being "inside", lifting your head up and have the whole structure of the crane before your eyes. It is enough to stir the imagination... :)

roman - 24.09.2009The largest port crane in medieval Europe is now one of the most recognizable symbols of Gdansk. Since 1961, the building's interiors have served as a muzeum. The museum's exhibits illustrate the role of the Crane in old Gdansk and the development and activities of the port on the Motlawa River (16th - 18th centuries). The exhibition touches on the following topics: navigation in the former port of Gdansk, cargo handling techniques, auxiliary crafts of boatbuilding and others. A great attraction is a visit to the heart of the Crane, where centuries ago port workers wound cargo-laden ropes on drums. In the buildings adjacent to the Crane, it is worth seeing an exhibition of traditional rowboats and sailing boats from almost all over the world.
