I have been there, seen it and highly recommend it. I lived in Brzeźno and did not have the opportunity to see it because it was inaccessible at the time. Only when I drove from Lower Silesiato Gdansk I could not miss such an opportunity anymore
Andrew J. - 09.10.2008One of the most beautiful lighthouses of the Baltic Sea, measuring 27 meters in height, put into operation in 1894, it indicated the entrance to the port of Gdansk to ships until 1984. The lighthouse was at the same time a pilot's tower and housed on its top an unusual instrument, which at the time was a time ball. Its rise and fall every noon allowed ship captains to set their chronometers accurately. The New Port lighthouse went down in history when, on September 1, 1939, Germany began World War II with shots from it and from the battleship "Schleswig-Holstein" in the direction of the Polish Westerplatte. In 2004, the lighthouse opened its doors to the public. Inside it you can admire the beautifully preserved old historical optical equipment and a magnificent lighthouse exhibition. You will also marvel at the view from its top of the Port of Gdansk, Westerplatte and the entire Gulf of Gdansk as far as Gdynia and Hel. One of the magical places of Gdansk, a must-see !
