    Unique Stay: April 2014

The facility was built in 1943 like most of the shelters in the city as part of the protection against Allied air raids , which had already "reached" this port and shipyard area. There were traction wires coming out of the gap on the east side. The facility could also, in case of need, serve as a power supply for several pump stations located around the city in case of damage to the main power traction from the city (although most stations had their own emergency generators).... The shape of the object protects in the event of a direct hit by air bombs its ceiling by rebounding and detonating in the ground near the wall (analogy to the shape of the shelter for officials of the Maritime Office in Gdynia (at ul.Chrzanowskiego). An interesting fact is that the foundations of the "power plant shelter" were laid in this wetland at a depth of about 7 meters!!! (control boreholes) protecting against "toppling of the object from a shock wave or a bomb driven into the ground near the wall of the object (see the shelters of the "Wolf's Lair in Gierłoż also built in a swampy area!!!) An object of fortification art unique in the country and deserving of protection. Listed by the PKZ monument protection service in May 2011.
