About the creation of the Museum of Coins and Medals of John Paul II Our Museum was created thanks to the great passion and indefatigable energy of the President of President Electronics Poland ? Krzysztof Witkowski, supported in his actions by the co-owners of Groupe President Electronics from France. The Museum of Coins and Medals of John Paul II is a votive offering to the Queen of Poland in gratitude for the gift of health after a stroke suffered by the head of the company, and a tribute to the most outstanding of Poles - Karol Wojtyla - the Pope, who was happy to come as a pilgrim to Our Lady of Jasna Gora. Immortalizing the image of John Paul II on coins and medals is a way of immortalizing his great achievement in the work of reconciling people around the world and passing on this legacy to future generations. The establishment of the museum in Czestochowa is symbolic and refers to the great tradition of pilgrimage for which Czestochowa is famous around the world. Possessed infrastructure and method of exhibition The museum is located in a modern building of President Electronics Poland, equipped to the highest standards. It is located in close proximity to the national road DK 1. The distance to Jasna Gora, 5 km away, can be covered by car in 10 minutes. A huge parking lot is able to accommodate dozens of coaches and hundreds of passenger vehicles. In the building there is a cafe, a souvenir and numismatic store, other necessary equipment for the operation of such a facility, and a music stage with professional sound and lighting. A particularly important role in the museum is played by the way the collections are displayed. A pleasant surprise will probably be the unconventional lighting of the collection, consisting of more than twenty-two thousand points of light. State-of-the-art audio-visual means have been used to present the exhibits, with the aim of enhancing the attractiveness of the tour and bringing this particular type of artwork closer. Base Collection Preparations for the opening of the museum took just 11 months - from the birth of the idea to its realization. Experts in the subject will recognize among the coins and medals on display the collection of Mr. Wojciech Grabowski, who until recently owned it. Mr. Wojciech presented it in London during the visit of John Paul II, and also in 2006 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, on the first anniversary of the death of our Pope. The director of the Royal Castle, Prof. Andrzej Rotermund, opening the said exhibition expressed his appreciation, saying ?
