Kujawy, from "kui" and "jawa", means wind and gale. Thanks to the fertile soils Kujawy are often called the "granary of Poland" and the "land of milk and honey". Folklore is the hallmark of the land. Annually, many folklore festivals take place exactly here in the homeland of the famous dance Kujawiak. History lovers will have a lot to do in Kujawy. Buildings in Romanesque style dating back to the times of the first Piast dynasty, medieval settlements, over 2,5 years old settlement in Biskupin and pyramids where tribal leaders, witches and shamans rest are all worth seeing.
