About 2 km north of the center of Ziębice going in the direction of Henrykowo and Wroclaw, on a hill in the so-called Town Forest, there is Cyril's Spring. Embedded in a stone obelisk, the springo, from which water constantly gushes, is a silent witness to the centuries-old history of the city. According to legend, Boleslaw Chrobry, going on an expedition to Bohemia, while resting at the Cyril Spring, was so enchanted by the area that he ordered its pagan inhabitants to be baptized with water from the spring and to found the settlement of Sambice (later Ziębice) in the valley of the nearby river. Another legend about this mysterious spring on the hill says that in the time of Boleslaw the Brave there was a castle - a monastery - here, inhabited by monks who preached the word of God to the local pagans. This castle was called "monastery mountain" (German: Münsterberg), and this was the name given to Ziębice during its location under German law in the mid-13th century. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a summer restaurant operated on the hill above the spring, where Ziębice residents enjoyed relaxing and entertaining.
