27.08.2014Sad news for those wishing to visit. The inheritance proceedings are underway and it is basically impossible to visit. The heirs are unlikely to be interested in the fate of the castle, but rather in the landmia and ponds. May the castle not become a ruin. 23-07-2010

25.03.2010Zator Castle - actually a palace, originally a ducal castle with defensive features from the 15th century, a Class I monument, the seat of the Zator dukes of the Upper Silesian Piast line., later the starosts. In 1778 it was purchased by the Dunin family and partially rebuilt with the addition of a second floor. Subsequent private owners of the palace and Zator estates: the Poniatowskis, the Tyszkiewiczes, the Wąsowiczes, the Potockis. In 1836 the Potocki family partially rebuilt and restored the palace according to a design by F.M. Lancie, giving it the form of a residence in the romantic neo-Gothic style. In 1945 it was illegally taken from its rightful owners by the communist authorities. Since 1946 it has been the seat of the Zootechnic Institute, most recently the Fishery Experimental Plant. Between 1964 and 1973 it was thoroughly restored. On the first floor, richly decorated halls: hunting, gold, fern, ivy - open to visitors. Source: pl.wikipedia.org
