27.09.2011It is one of the oldest castles in Silesia . It existed as early as the 12th century and was built of stone. It is located on Choina Hill in the northern part of the Owl Mountains. In the 13th century. the castle was renovated by Prince Bolek I. At that time, the castle consisted of two parts of the lower castle and the upper castle. Within the walls there was a high defensive tower, residential and outbuildings. In the 16th cent. The castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was deserted and began to fall into disrepair. It was not until 1823 that restoration work began in the castle. It now houses the PTTK Regional Museum, where visitors can see remnants of the castle's home furnishings and exhibits on loan from the Regional Museum in Walbrzych. Additional attractions are the cyclical events organized on the castle grounds, the most popular being: Medieval Fair and the All-Polish Amateur Film Festival ?White Lady?
