Its total area is 265 sq. km. It lies in the Kamienskiy and Swinoujscie districts and forms the southern shore of the Pomeranian Bay. The island is characterized by a diverse, specific landscape, there are moraine hills, as well as lowlands and marshes. On the shore of the island stretches an 80-meter high cliff belt. Lakes also occur here. Due to its natural and landscape values requiring protection, Wolin was included in the range of protected areas: Wolin National Park and the Natura 2000 network area: the Vistula Mouth and the Szczecin Lagoon.
