Residence of the President of the Republic of Poland Castle in Wisła - Czarny on the slope of Zadni Groń, was built in 1929 - 1931. The author of the project was a prominent architect and conservator Adolf Szyschool - Bohusz. The structure was built as a gift from the Silesian people to the head of state. In addition to the residence proper, the Castle includes the Lower Castle, which has functioned as an outbuilding from the beginning, and the wooden chapel of St. Hedwig of Silesia, which was built before the residence was built, in 1909. Above the Castle is the wooden chapel of St. Hedwig of Silesia, dating from 1909. It was built on the initiative of Archduke Frederick Habsburg, near the wooden hunting lodge (not preserved). Ready-made wooden elements imported from Przyszkowice near Rybnik were used to erect it. At the turn of 1930 and 1931, conditions arose for the Silesian Provincial Council to transfer the castle to the State Treasury at the disposal of the Civil Chancellery of the President of the Republic. By a resolution of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers dated 30.December 1930, the Castle, built in Wisła by the Silesian Treasury on the territory of the former Těšín Chamber, was given the character of a representative edifice and handed over for the use of the President of the Republic of Poland and his successors. In the 1930s, the Castle of the President of the Republic of Poland, as a representative edifice intended for the highest authorities of the state, entered the registry of such buildings as the Wawel Castle in Cracow, the Castle and Royal Łazienki in Warsaw, the hunting lodge in Spale, the palace in Białowieża and the castle in Poznan, among others. President Ignacy Moscicki visited the Castle for the first time on January 21, 1931. Since then he visited regularly, at least twice a year. He eagerly participated in the events that took place in Wisla and Beskidy at the time. President Aleksander Kwasniewski took the initiative to restore the historic function of the Presidential Castle Historic Complex, thanks to which it now officially serves as the residence of the head of state. The Lower Castle now functions as a hotel and restaurant. Entrance to the chapel is possible only for masses and services on designated days, i.e. Sundays and public holidays. The chapel is one of the points of interest on the Wooden Architecture Route. Prepared on the basis of the brochure "Residence of the President of the Republic of Poland National Historic Complex in Wisla" from 2005.
