A great place for a 1-2 hour walk in the park and adjacent forest complex. Child and elderly friendly place, possibility to take your dog on a leash. After the dojing to the lake you can take a walk along its banks along a prepared path. Wirty is beautiful at any time of the year, but I like it best in May, when magnolias, azaleas and rhododendrons bloom and in the colors of autumn. Beautiful old-growth forest and interesting plant species. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Mirosawa P. - 05.08.2020Arboretum Wirty ? A dendrological garden located in the village of Wirty on Lake Borzechowskie, in the municipality of Zblewo, Starogard County, Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is locatedunder the management of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Gdansk, lies on the territory of the Kaliska Forest District ? Wirty Forestry, branch 37. Currently, on the territory of 39 plots (33,61 hectares) grows nearly 145 species, varieties and forms of coniferous and 310 deciduous plants, as well as about 150 species of undergrowth. In the arboretum there is the only specimen of intermediate walnut in Poland. The garden is divided into four parts: dendrological garden, European, American and Asian flora. The different parts are divided into quarters preceded by roads and marked with numbers. The arboretum's collection is divided into two parts. The park part includes a collection of coniferous and deciduous trees planted in rows along paths. The forest part is directly adjacent to Lake Borzechowskie, crisscrossed by valleys with specimens of exotic trees and nearly two hundred-year-old domestic trees. Business facilities consist of an administrative and office building, a cone hulling plant, chambers for sorting and storing seeds, a cone warehouse, plastic tunnels and greenhouses. A didactic path of about 2.7 kilometers was created in the forest to learn about different types of forests and how they are managed and protected.
