    Very good Stay: August 2010

There should be a rating of 5, but the renovation - revitalization of the park is underway. A sizable part is ditched, and the passage for tourists is fenced with a simple mesh, so the aesthetic experience is poore. I advise visitors to wait until the work is completed. Some of the gardens are already finished, and in these places it is clear that the work is impressive. Free day - don't even try to tempt yourselves. The number of free tickets on this day to the Palace is severely limited. It's already better to spend a few zlotys on a ticket, especially since there is much to look at.

  • Wilanów Palace ? Baroque palace located in Warsaw's Wilanów district. Erected in 1677-1696 for King John III Sobieski, designed by Augustine Locci.and expanded (side wings) by successive owners of Wilanów. The palace, along with the surrounding park and buildings, which survived the times of partitions, wars and occupations, preserving its historical and artistic values, is one of the most important monuments of Polish national culture. The palace and park complex in Wilanów is also a venue for cultural events, concerts and meetings. Among the most famous events are: Summer Royal Concerts in the Rose Garden and the International Summer Academy of Early Music. The architecture of the palace is original ? it is the result of combining European art with old Polish building traditions. The preserved painting and sculpture decoration of the palace facade and interiors, which, with reference to ancient symbolism, proclaims the apotheosis of the Sobieski family and glorification of the king's military successes.
