  • A great place to see. I recommend, but warn you - it is not worth going there on the day described as "free". You will only have a gratis walk through the park when youThat all facilities are then closed.

  • One of the most beautiful palace and park complexes in Europe. Originally the property of Stanislaw Heraklius Lubomirski, it owes its present shape to the efforts of King Stanislaw August Poniatowski (1732-1798), to whom they belonged since 1764. In almost 30 years, on an area of about 74 hectares, the monarch's summer residence was built, the park was laid out and pavilions and buildings were erected. During this time, the 17th-century bathhouse, designed by Tylman of Gameren, was transformed by Dominick Merlini in 1792-1793 into the magnificent classicist Palace on the Water. A Theater on the Island - the work of Jan Chrystian Kamstezer from 1790-1795, on the model of the ancient theater from Herculanum - was built, as well as the Belvedere Palace designed by Jakub Fontana and the Orangery with a court theater. Also built during this period were such buildings as the White House, the Water House, the Great Outhouse and the Myślewicki Palace, which now present displays of palace interiors. The park surrounding the palace complex was created in the years from 1774-1784, combining elements of a regular French garden with an English landscape park. On the terrace of the Vistula escarpment there is a monument to Frederic Chopin chiseled by Waclaw Szymanowski in 1926.
