  • The Warsaw Mermaid ? a symbol of Warsaw and also part of the coat of arms of the city of Warsaw. The sculpture in Warsaw's Old Town Square was created by Konstanty Hegel. Pierwotnie (1855-1928) and now (since 2000) stands in the Market Square. In the time between these dates it was moved to various places in Warsaw. In April 1939, a monument made of bronze was erected on the Vistula River. The model for Ludwika Nitschowa was Krystyna Krahelska.
