  • THE CLASSIC ROOM The east wing contains a sacristy dating back to the 13th century.Adjacent to the sacristy is a small room originally intended as a handy library, notable for itsThey include a small barred window that has not undergone any maintenance or alteration since the early Middle Ages, a chapterhouse (one of the oldest Cistercian monuments in Poland, an authentic Romanesque chapterhouse preserved to this day, and on the first floor a 12th century dormitory and a 13th century fraternity originally intended as a day room for monks. In the south wing, the most representative part is the 13th century refectory. The cloisters from the Romanesque period are the oldest part of the Narcoche Abbey, rebuilt in the 17th century. Traces of the former building can be seen on the walls in the form of hatches, near the passage from the cloisters to the church there are also traces of polychromy from the 13th and 17th centuries. The Abbot's House with a small cloister was added to the eastern part of the monastery building in the 16th century. There is also the Crypt of "Ponury" - a red sandstone plaque, behind which is an urn with the mortal remains of the legendary commander of the Home Army - Major Jan Piwnik "Ponury". POCYSTERS' CHURCH The Monastery Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Florian was built before 1241.The interior of the temple is a three-nave, four-bay basilica with a distinct transept and a straight chancel. The vaulted ceiling of the nave rests on eight quadrangular pillars. Many architectural elements are covered with low-relief decoration containing primarily floral ornaments. The furnishings are mostly from the Baroque era. In the interior there is an organ, built by the monastery workshop, dating back to the second half of the 17th century and rated as one of the most valuable in Poland. To increase the sound qualities of the instrument, pure tin was used to cast the pipes. The organ has 15 voices in 2 manual keyboards and 7 voices in the pedal. The positive of the instrument is decorated with a statue of the Virgin of the Apocalypse and a spinning star (cymbelstern) during playing. A small choir built in the 17th century halfway up the transept has a six-voice organ. Above this choir is the only surviving keystone in the Abbey of Wąschock depicting the Winged Christ. On the floor, meanwhile, fragments of old ceramic tiles from old Cistercian workshops can be found. The church contains twelve Baroque and Rococo altars. The exception is the neo-Romanesque main altar, erected in 1894, containing in the central place an image of the Cistercian patroness Our Lady of Mercy, surrounded by St. Bernard and St. Florian. The chapel of Blessed Wincenty Kadlubek from the 17th century. The altar houses a painting depicting Wincenty Kadlubek, author of the "Polish Chronicle" and bishop of Krakow, as well as his relics. In the Chapel of the Crucifixion, the altar contains a precious cross with the image of Christ. In the Chapel of St. Anne Samotrzec there is a Rococo altar depicting the Virgin Mary, Lord Jesus and St. Anne, as well as an octagonal baptismal font from the 16th century. The decor is complemented by the Rococo pulpit, dating from the same period as the main group of altars, with rich sculptural decoration, and stalls standing on both sides of the chancel.
