The oldest oak trees in Poland: - oak "Boleslaw" - 800 years old - oak "Warcislaw" - 640 years old. To be in the municipality of Ustronie Morskie (Rusowo) and not see the oldest oak tree in Polsce is a big loss. Recently, thanks to the efforts of the municipal authorities, a blue hiking trail was marked out, which will take you to the oldest trees in Poland. "Boleslaw" - when we look at it overwhelms us with its size and thickness of branches, its magnificent bark arouses awe and respect. In 2000, the age of the oak tree on the basis of dendrological studies was determined to be 800 years. Its circumference measured at a height of 1.3 m from the ground is 691 cm, it is 30 m high and the diameter of its crown is 18 m. On August 19, 2000 a momentous ceremony took place after 800 years the oak lived to see its christening, at which it was given the name "Boleslaw", thus commemorating King Boleslaw the Brave, due to whose cause the bishopric of Kolobrzeg was established in 1000. In front of the oak tree, an information board was erected with its characteristics. The act of naming the oak as a historical document was transferred to the Museum of Polish Arms in Kolobrzeg. The second of the oaks is "Warcislaw" and bears the name of the Gryfita prince Warcislaw III, thanks to whom Kolobrzeg was granted city rights in 1255. It measures 720 centimeters in circumference, is 37 meters tall and is estimated to be 640 years old, which places it fifth in the ranking of the oldest trees of this species in Poland. An interesting fact is that "Boleslaw" and "Warcislaw" are accompanied by magnificent single beech trees growing nearby. They perhaps create a peculiar microclimate for these trees and, in addition, provide fertile humus, the so-called beech soil.
