Church of the Most Holy Savior

The Church of the Holiest Savior in Ustka is located at 4 Kościelna Street, between the Polish Firemen's Square and the Museum of Ustka Land. Before World War II, for more than half a century, the church functioned as a Protestant church. Its incorporation into the Catholic rite did not take place until 1945, but the distinctive decor still reminds us of the history of the place. The characteristic wooden balconies are reminiscent of classical solutions from Protestant churches. The building represents the neo-Gothic style, and the builder of the temple is a carpenter from Ustka - Franz Draheim. When visiting the church, it is worth seeing the 17th century cross, located above the altar, the painting painted to commemorate the sea disaster of 1672, as well as the 19th century stone crucifix (placed in front of the entrance to the temple). Also attracting attention in the Church of the Most Holy Savior is the beautiful organ. The mighty instrument was built in 1887 by Paul Voelkner, the owner of an organ-building company from Duninow. His establishment operated since 1859, and in 1906 the headquarters was moved to Bydgoszcz.

  • Church of the Most Holy Savior in Ustka - is the second temple given to the community for performing ceremonies and holding services. The church was consecrated in 1888 as a pigątion, a Protestant church, was incorporated into the Catholic church after World War II in 1945. The site was chosen earlier - on the border of the settlement, and a new site for the cemetery was selected. The cornerstone was laid on 18 05 1885. A ceremony was held on this occasion in the presence of church superiors. The document that was laid says that the construction of the new St. Nicholas Church in Ustka was undertaken. The construction was carried out by the workshop of master builder Franz Draheim from Ustka. Organmaster Völkner from Duninow built the organ. The instrument even before the official opening was inspected on 19 01 1888 by an organist from the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary from Slupsk, organist Kutz considered this organ one of the best instruments to leave Völkner's workshop. The church was built in neo-Gothic style.
