  • Tarnowice Stare Castle is one of the oldest and most valuable examples of Renaissance architecture in Upper Silesia. The building was erected in the years 1520-1570, thanks to the knight Peter Wrochem. Although over the centuries the castle changed its owners, who made numerous renovations, but fortunately the Renaissance character of the building has been preserved. Today, in the Castle, which is open to the public, one can admire the dazzling courtyard, surrounded by arcaded cloisters, which are a pearl of Renaissance architecture in Upper Silesia, as well as a number of beautifully furnished chambers, which include Renaissance closets, Baroque secretaries, and Art Nouveau bedrooms. While visiting the castle, one can also admire a remarkable collection of furniture-related items. In one of the museum's rooms, craftsman's tools have been collected and innovatively displayed. In addition, the castle also has the only exhibition of decorative elements, the so-called appliqués, in Poland. All this makes a visit to the castle a kind of journey into the world of handicrafts. Opening hours of the Castle for visitors: Tuesday - Friday 9:00 - 16:00 (last entrance) Saturday - Sunday 11:00 - 17:00 (last entrance) Monday Castle closed
