Black Trout Adit

The Black Trout Adit is one of Europe's longest underground boat rides through a section of the 19th-century Frederick Deep Adit. A tourist route was launched here as early as 1957, using a 600-meter section of the Frederick Deep Adit and two of its shafts numbered 13 and 17. For tourist purposes, the shafts were given their names Ewa and Sylvester, while the facility's name refers to the trout swimming in its waters, which appear black in the light of carbide lamps.

The adit is a good complement to a visit to the Silver-bearing Ore Historic Mine. If anyone is hoping for stalactites the size of those at least from Paradise or Bear Cavesit can be very disappointing. The Tarnogórskie ones are as tiny as a hedgehog's thorns. Night tour of the Adit, it would be an experience for people with strong nerves, because both shafts are located deep in the park in the Upper Silesian Rehabilitation Center "Repty". Adit + mine = very good rating of course:-)

  • It is a 600-meter section of the longest drainage adit "Frederick" (later named "Kosciuszko"). It can be visited since 1957, thanks to the efforts of StowaThe Association of Lovers of Ternogórska Land. The tourist route is located between the "Ewa" and "Sylvester" shafts. During the tour, which takes place by boat, you can admire the charms of the underground world, including stalactites and the original parts of the adit walkway carved in dolomite rock.
