Rose Garden in Szczecin, "Różanka" (until 1945 German: Staudengarten, Rosengarten) ? a two-hectare garden established on Łękno (then Westend) in 1928 on the occasion of a gardeners' conventioniks. Popular in Szczecin, "Różanka" is nearly 10,000 roses in about 100 varieties, planted on a 2-hectare area. In summer, it is a place visited by both rose lovers and classical music lovers. In 1935, a "Bird Fountain" was created with bird sculptures by Kurt Schwerdtfeger. The garden survived World War II intact. Until the 1970s, the garden was a place of recreation for the people of Szczecin. Due to lack of money for its maintenance, it gradually began to fall into disrepair. In 1983 the site was handed over to the Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamienna, while in 2005 it was returned to the city. In 2006-2007, thanks to funds from the City of Szczecin, the garden was reconstructed in the style of the 1930s. Upon completion, it was put into use on April 20, 2007. More than nine thousand roses in 99 varieties were planted here, stairs, alleys and a playground were made. In addition to flowers, there are also exotic trees and shrubs planted when the garden was established, including smooth chestnut, Amur cork tree, apple trees, cherry trees, American hornbeam, maple and Serbian spruce found only in the mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the garden's highlights is the "Bird Fountain," reconstructed from clinker and marble based on photographs and engravings, in imitation of a pre-war building. Its main elements are four concrete geese set on a pedestal (three of them original, restored, the fourth - created from scratch). Różanka is located in the area of Łękno, on the edge of Kasprowicz Park between Jasienica, Zaleski and Moczyńskiego streets and the bicycle path (Fałata) near the disused Szczecin Łękno railroad station.
