Karsiborska Kępa Nature Reserve - a nature reserve of the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds on the island of Karsiborska Kępa. It is the first reserve in Poland establishedm by a non-governmental organization and its goal is to protect the extremely valuable and rich bird fauna found in the area. The area, which covers about 180 hectares of wet meadows, is a breeding ground for waders and one of the three most valuable areas for Aquatic Warblers. Up to a few percent of the world population of this rare bird nests in meadows overgrown with low reeds. The refuge is also home to other rare species: white-tailed eagle, red kite, marsh harrier, corncrake, ruffed bat - species ranked as globally extinct. In total, more than 140 rare bird species can be watched at any time of the year. Karsiborska Kepa is also home to unique saltmarsh vegetation. Among the halophytes found here are pinnate plantain (Plantago coronopus) (the only site in Poland), seaside milkweed (Glaux maritima), sea marmot (Triglochin maritima).
