Fantastic place to sail and take a motorboat course. Also great attractions and corners in Smardzewice.
Madzix - 12.01.2021July 04, 2018, Sulejowski Reservoir, People's Republic of Poland Open Air Museum I've been here since July 01, 2018, and I can't believe my eyes: what awful forgotten places of the bright past. Pthirty-nine years since the change of state regime, time has stopped here. Cracked concrete access streets to former communist-era resorts that are in or heading for ruin, sometimes, as today, awful green dirty water, neglected beaches, rolling garbage, this is the actual state as of today. For this reason, probably, even in fine weather, there is a noticeable lack of tourists. Old, worn-out pedal boats and kayaks often discourage people from using them. In the area where I stay, Smardzewice, there is a stench of burning garbage and plastic packaging. Residents of the area are strangers to air and nature conservation. In the evenings it is not always possible to open the windows because of the stench of burning, hanging in the air. Navigating by car in the vicinity of the Sulejowski Lagoon is not always easy due to cracked concrete slabs that form access roads to resorts or camping grounds that remain in agony. Don't believe the charming descriptions posted on the Internet. They are boastful and often untrue. The attractiveness of an area cannot be created by lying descriptions. In the attached photos I will show only a fraction of the truth about which I write. Sulejowski Lagoon is simply an open-air museum of the People's Republic of Poland, dirty beaches, shabby places serving vacationers thirsty for drinks and meals. There is a lack of a real bike path around the lagoon. Potholes in the access roads to the neglected beaches threaten car suspensions. The Bison Breeding Center near Tomaszow is closed due to tuberculosis in bison. The only positive point for us was the well-stocked store in Smardzewice, the rest is thickly boasted.
Christof K. - 04.07.2018I worked on this facility that is at the dam in 1976 already after it was put into operation it was the construction of Gierkow if that says something to the younger years from me . ThisThe reservoir was to provide water for Lodz, but there were problems with both the water and the dam. After the opening of the facility in a short period of time began to repair it, both on land and underwater at the dam because there were leaks in the dam, which threatened its damage. The lagoon was created on the Pilica River dam dammed up the waters flooding the surrounding areas meadows, woods and so called lagoon bloom occurred, to combat this phenomenon fish were allowed into the lagoon, which feeds on algae, but what is the current protection of this phenomenon is to ask our ecological services, the lagoon is almost a stagnant water conspspiring to this phenomenon Greetings to those who use the water and wish you health
09.04.2014Although the reservoir was built for energy and retention purposes, it also plays a recreational role in the region. It is unfortunate that the authorities have struggled for years with how to manage thedonate better this place just for recreation. During the season many Lodz residents come here. Interesting fact - at the lagoon in 2012 Artur Andrus recorded his music video "Queen of the Baltic Sea reefs".
16.10.2013As a swimming area, it leaves a lot to be desired (although this year is not yet a tragedy anyway). On the other hand, it is great for yachting, sailing, water cycling or at leastby walk and sunbathe on the beach.... In rental shops near the dam, a water bike costs in the range of 20-25 zloty per hour.
16.07.2013Place -tragedy. I do not recommend this place for leti rest in any respect. Water-GOOD, SYF and I lack the words how else to call it, if someone goes on vacation with my thought of bathing is definitely not in this place. Walking up to the water you can suffocate with its stench! No one bathes there. Tourist attractions in the area are also a disaster. To the Bison center, which is supposedly several dozen hectares, you first have to drive up by car to the parking lot in a tank because the car is in danger of losing its suspension, to the parking lot is about 200 meters, then you have to walk through the forest 3km, then pay for the ticket and enter the breeding area, which has a size of 10/20 meters sit on a bench and watch a few wisents as they lie down. In general, if you stay inside for 2 minutes, that's enough for you.
08.08.2012actually the lagoon is not crystal clear and swimming may end up with a visit to the dermatologist but the sun here tans brilliantly
26.08.2011Unfortunately, the lagoon is not one of the cleanest and, more often than not, swimming here is risky, but, for example, for a bicycle trip or a barbecue, this place is ideal.
18.08.2011An artificially created water reservoir located in the province of Lodz, in the districts of Piotrków and Tomaszów. It was created between 1969 and 1974 as a result of the damming of the Pilica River in thenear the village of Smardzewice, in the Kielce province at that time. A concrete and earth dam 1200 m long and 16 m high was built there, which contributed to the creation of a reservoir with an area of 2700 ha, length of 17.1 km, maximum width of 2.1 km, average depth of 3.3 m. The shoreline of the reservoir is 58 km, of which 11 km is located in the Wolbórz municipality. The creation of the reservoir was intended to provide drinking water for Tomaszow Mazowiecki and Lodz (the capacity at full damming is 95 million m³). O becnie Lodz no longer uses water from the Sulejowski Reservoir, and has its own deep wells. In addition to its retention and energy function, the reservoir also serves as a place for recreation. It allows sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. The reservoir is located within the boundaries of the Sulejowski Landscape Park.
