The monument was designed in 1996, as a gift to the city, by a former resident of Noskovo and Slawno, German artist Heinrich Eugen von Zitzewitz. The monument depicts a poor Chrystus riding on a donkey, holding a dove in one hand and a cross in the other. The second figural element is a Slawien Griffin with a chessboard (an element of Slawno's coat of arms) and the Wieprza River. Mounted on the pedestal is a plaque with text in Polish and German. The construction was financially supported by the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation with funds from the Federal Republic of Germany The monument was unveiled on May 22, 2001 in the presence of the author's family. The bronze casting and installation of the monument was entrusted to Polish artist Romuald Wisniewski. The pedestal, made of fieldstone, was made by the Sławno-based Hydrogeobudowa company. The top slab for the statues was donated by Monsignor Marian Dziemianko. The monument was able to stand in the city thanks to the efforts of the then director of the Slawienski Dom Kultury and Derk Steggewentz of Rinteln, the initiator of cooperation between the cities. In 2008, the monument was vandalized. A wing of the Griffin was broken off. In August 2009, the monument was repaired by Romuald Wisniewski on behalf of Slawno City Hall and the Municipal Utilities and Housing Company.
