Supposedly the oldest train station in Poland, maybe, but certainly the prettiest I've seen :-)

18.07.2013I'm here every day :) A station like few!
18.07.2013Skierniewice railway station is one of the most beautiful in Europe. The building, in the English Gothic style, was built to a design by Jan Heurich in 1874, burned down in 1914. WFrom 1992-2003 the station was restored, restoring it to its former glory. Wł. St. Reymont visited here, and scenes for the film "Promised Land" were shot here. The image of the station was also included in the screen adaptation of the novel by B. Prus - "The Doll." Worth seeing is the wooden platform shelter, existing in an unchanged form since 1893, and inside the station building - sgraffito by A and M. Mieszkowski from the Socialist Realist period (1954).
