It was closer to Skarżysko than to Vilnius. The GPS could not cope with finding this interesting place. Good people helped.
26.03.2010The sanctuary in Skarżysko-Kamienna, is a copy of the Gate of Dawn in Vilnius. The coronation of the image of Our Lady of Ostra Brama took place on July 2, 2005. Our Lady of the Dawn Gate jest the patroness of Skarżysko-Kamienna. The Sanctuary arose from the longing of hearts, people coming from the Borderlands. By the decision of Vilnius Bishop Edward Materski, the first Ordinary of the Diocese of Radom, the construction of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ostra Brama in Skarżysko-Kamienna began in May 1988. On October 22, 1989, Rev. Cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz consecrated the chapel and enthroned the image of Our Lady. The image is a gift of Msgr. Edward Materski, and was painted by Vilnius resident Ms. Izabela Borowska. A distinction for this place, is the establishment of the Ostra Brama Chapter on May 17, 1992. On that day the relics of St. Raphael were brought to the shrine.
