The castle in the quadrilateral form known today was built in 1310-1330.The castle was once decorated with two-story cloisters and a large, free-standing octagonal tower. The south wing with a chapel and the east corner turrets are partially preserved. After the Battle of Grunwald, the castle was captured by Polish troops returning from under Malbork. The castle was destroyed during the Polish-Swedish war.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to enter behind the gate and visit the castle from the inside. Hence the rating of 3 stars.

  • The masonry castle began to be erected before 1276. Work was interrupted during the second Prussian uprising, when their commander Skomand partially destroyed, or perhapsHe even captured a Teutonic stronghold. Construction probably resumed soon after the Prussians withdrew from the Chełmno land (1278) and was probably completed before 1329. Immediately after the battle on the fields of Grunwald, Radzyń resisted the Polish army, but was captured by Jagiello less than two months later (22.09.1410), when he was returning from an unsuccessful expedition to Malbork. The Radzyń stronghold was counted among the largest and best fortified in the entire Teutonic State. Situated on a natural hill, it was supposed to protect the road from Pomezania to the Chelmno Land passing through it.
