  • This is a large complex of industrial buildings built in the late 19th/early 20th century. Noteworthy are: - the bascule tower building of the Wiktor shaft from 1913, - the admin buildingistrative building from 1910, - the management building from 1900, - the fire department building built in 1913. The history of the "Marcel" (formerly "Emma") mine dates back to the middle of the last century. Full commissioning of the mine took place on November 13, 1883, after the commissioning of the "Mauve" shaft (now the "Wiktor" shaft) and the deepening to the level of 126 m of the "Grundman" (now "Antoni") shaft. The mine was initially owned by the Grundman family, while later it became part of Frederick Friendlander's estate. The name of the mine from "Emma" to "Marcel" was changed in the post-war period - on May 1, 1949. The post-war years were a period of further expansion and modernization of the mine. In 1990 the "Marcel" mine, together with other mines, gained financial, local government and organizational independence. In recent years, thanks to the implementation of new technology and organizational solutions, productivity was increased, production costs were reduced and work safety was improved. Since February 1, 2003, the mine has been part of Kompania Węglowa SA.
