Models of old Poznań

Feedback

  • The model of Old Poznań shows the city as it was depicted in Braun-Hogenberg's 1618 engraving. Its author is Krzysztof Przybyła, and consultant historianThe lead in its creation was Prof. Jacek Wiesiołowski. The construction of the mock-up took six years and was preceded by thorough studies of the history of old Poznań, its iconography, and modern reconstructions. The mock-up covers more than 50 sq. m. and consists of more than 2,000 elements made of paper, modeling clay and plastic, as well as plastics used in modern modeling. It is accompanied by a recorded commentary of about half an hour, telling the story of old Poznań, the life the people of Poznań led in it and how the city has changed over the centuries. The model can be visited daily in the basement of the Franciscan monastery on Przemyslawa Hill (entrance from Ludegardy Street).
