The open-air museum is located on the route Poznań - Gniezno, 2 km from Pobiedziska. It is the only facility of its kind in Poland, comprising 35 of the most important buildings from Wielkopolska andPiast Route. In Pobiedziska you will look down on the Mice Tower, Biskupin, Gniezno Cathedral, Poznan's Old Market, the Collegiate Church in Kruszwica and other buildings from the Piast Trail and Wielkopolska. The open-air museum of miniatures is a park containing models of historical objects and interesting fragments of buildings of Wielkopolska cities. The main function of the open-air museum is to show the spatial structure of the Piast Route in its present and partly historical shape, as well as the process of settlement development and the formation of Polish statehood. The open-air museum was opened in May 1998, the year of the 950th anniversary of Pobiedziska, although some miniatures were made as early as 1994. It is the only facility of its kind in Poland, covering some 35 of the most important, as well as lesser-known buildings from the Piast Route and Greater Poland. The miniatures are made on a scale of 1:20, with durable materials: aluminum skeleton, plastic "facade" protected with appropriate chemicals, and some fragments are realized with materials identical to the original objects. The mock-ups depict town halls, palaces, churches, castles, etc. They are a faithful copy of the originals with preservation of all details. These are the objects most representative of our region, covering the three largest cities of the Piast Route: Poznań, Gniezno and Inowrocław. The open-air museum is located on the route Poznań - Gniezno (l,5 km from Pobiedziska), halfway between these cities. It lies in the valley of the Main River, in a 23-hectare basin, which is a remnant of a gravel mine. It is a centrally located place on the Piast Route.
