Very interesting castle ruins. A lot to walk around. Inside the castle museum, torture room. At the foot was built a park of miniature castles of the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic and a square with aabaw for children, so there is a wide range of attractions for everyone. From time to time there are battle demonstrations by the local knightly brotherhood. Local residents are more than happy to take care of parking your car on their property for a few zlotys. Due to the prevailing civilization in the castle, you have to buy a ticket to see it all, but it's worth it ;-)
11.05.2011Ogrodzieniecki Castle in Podzamcze is the most impressive Eagle's Nest of all the castles in the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic Highlands. Situated on Janowski Mountain - the mosthe highest elevation in the Jurassic (515.5 meters above sea level) - built of hard limestone and dolomite has survived for centuries, being for a long time an unconquered stronghold of the Piast eagles on Krakow, and later of subsequent powerful and distinguished magnate families. The current state of the castle ruins is the result of archaeological and restoration work carried out by the state between 1959 and 1973. However, it does not give a true idea of the appearance of this magnate seat from the period of its splendor and the importance of the families that successively ruled it.
