    Stay: May 2016

Hello, I travel a lot in southern Poland, especially Malopolska, nevertheless, recently I was able to visit the Palace in Pławniowice in the Silesian Voivodeship, well ... well I have nI have seen many palaces, castles in my life, the palace itself I rate somewhere in the middle of my scale of comparison, but the so-called park, well, I think it's a disaster, grass, grass and a few trees ... and it would have been enough to plant a few flowers, some ornamental bush, as I see there was a lack of initiative, well it happens anyway, but for that drunkard sleeping on one of the benches in front of the palace - a priceless view, hehe. Greetings!

    Unique Stay: August 2011

A wonderful place. Strolling through the park (nice after all) at first, I never imagined that I would fall into such delight inside. The fee for the bricks intended nand renovation of the place, which are also tickets, was really symbolic. The guide's story - priceless. The plebiscite "Pearls in the crown 2011" is underway and my vote will certainly go to the Palace in Pławniowice. I don't think I need special encouragement to visit ;-)

    Very good Stay: April 2011

It's sad that most of the places worth seeing were left to us by the Germans. Pławniowice is one of those places. It's easy to get here and see, although with sightseeing it canbe a problem, because it is not always possible to form a group for a guide, and then it remains to walk through the wonderful palace park. Before arriving, I suggest you first take a peek at the palace's website and get an idea of the tour hours.

  • Anyone who associates the history of Upper Silesian industry exclusively with historic mines and open-air mining museums should undoubtedly go to Pławniowice. Wizhe visit to this extremely charming place will not only allow you to deepen your knowledge of the region, but will also provide many aesthetic and cultural experiences. It can also be a great way to spend an afternoon relaxing or taking a family walk. Pławniowice is a small town located just 18 km from Gliwice (and at the same time far from the big-city hustle and bustle), just off the A4 freeway exit. Many visitors associate it primarily with the nearby Pławniowice Lake, while its main attraction is the picturesquely situated Palace and Park Complex from the 19th century, which ? not without reason after all ? can be described as an architectural gem. Until the end of World War II, the property was owned by the von Ballerstrem family of Italian industrial magnates. With their outstanding activities, they exerted a great influence on the appearance of Silesian cities, especially Gliwice, Zabrze and Ruda Śląska. During the rapid industrialization of Upper Silesia, they cared not only for the development of the industrial plants they owned, but also for their employees, for whom they built housing estates, schools and churches. That is why it is worth taking a closer look at their ancestral seat and learning about their rich history. You only have to stand on the threshold of the Palace to feel the extraordinary atmosphere of 19th-century luxury from the upper classes. Here, time seems to have come to a standstill. The first point of the tour is the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, consecrated in 1885 and impressive in its splendor and richness of color. Further on, we move to the beautiful palace halls, restored and decorated in imitation of the original ones, so you get the impression as if someone still lived and worked in them a while ago. In the library, a surprise collection of unique African instruments and folk artwork awaits us. Finally, we come to the two most magnificent of the rooms ? the concert hall (the former dining room) and the conference room, known as the tea pot room. From the interior of the Palace we move to a small (3.5 hectares), but beautiful in every season and carefully tended Park. In it you can admire, among other things, rare specimens of old-growth trees, magnificently blooming magnolias, as well as numerous exotic trees. Art lovers will also be delighted by the statue of Our Lady and Child from 1870 and the ornamental fountain located in the courtyard. However, these are not all the assets of the Pławniowice Palace. The complex has been awarded the prestigious prize of the General Conservator of Monuments ?Zabytek Zadbany? Not surprisingly, it is often the venue for various symposia, congresses, conventions or educational and cultural activities. The offer includes conferences, recitals and open-air concerts ? the Pławniowice stage has already hosted such notables as Wiesław Ochman and Jacek Wójcicki. The facility's caretakers have taken care not only of the visitors' spiritual sphere, but also of their bodies. After sightseeing or listening to a concert, an additional attraction can be eating a tasty (and relatively inexpensive) lunch within the walls of the Ballestrem Palace or drinking a cup of coffee in the palace cafe. Accommodations in single and double rooms with bathrooms also await visitors from farther afield. Such a fascinating journey into the past can be made for really little money. The price of the entrance card (the proceeds of which are entirely earmarked for further renovation and maintenance of the Palace) is only 3 to 5 zlotys. So it's the perfect place not only for a weekend getaway with family or friends, but also for a school trip or an employee conference. This unusual and completely unique to the Upper Silesian landscape corner is really worth getting to know better?
