  • On the territory of the municipality of Dabrowa Biskupia, in the village of Pieranie, there is St. Nicholas Church. The present unique wooden basilica was erected in 1732 - 34However, crowds of the faithful had already made pilgrimages to Pierania to bow before the miraculous image, and the first mention of the local parish dates back to 1325. It is one of the largest wooden churches in Poland, and is in the Baroque style, which also emphasizes its uniqueness. Among other things, the church houses a miracle-famous image of Our Lady and Child, known as the Kuyavian Madonna, probably dating from 1520. Among those who prayed in front of the painting were later Pope Clement XIII, King Stanislaw Leszczynski and 18-year-old Jan Kasprowicz, who wrote a Hymn in Honor of the Kuyavia Madonna after visiting Pieran.
