The Pelplin Museum is the cultural center of the entire Eastern Pomerania. It was founded by Bishop Stanislaw Wojciech Okoniewski in 1928 and initially collectedantique items in the bishop's residence and the Diocesan Curia building. In 1988, a contemporary edifice was built integrated into the curia building, specifically designed to house the museum collection. The most valuable manuscript is the Gutenberg bible. Three exhibition runs on the first floor, divided into smaller spaces, are devoted to: a collection of modern art from the Baroque to modern times, the Treasury, the Gutenberg Bible, occasional other old prints and manuscripts, a collection of textiles, a papal collection related to the visit of the Holy Father John Paul II to Pelplin, and temporary exhibitions.
