The lake is located in the Kashubian Lake District by the Szymbarskie Hills, Kartuskie and Skarszewskie tourist trails. It is a post-glacial lake formed after the activity of the Scandinavian glacier. The lake has recreational and tourist functions for residents of Gdansk and nearby towns - fishing is allowed. Swimming is prohibited
