  • The Olsztyne open-air museum is one of the oldest in Poland. Its origins date back to 1909, when the Königsberg authorities decided to create an open-air museum. Afterczyning since 1910, 24 architectural and two arecheological structures have been built. Olsztyne Ethnographic Park, located on the northern outskirts of the town, covers an area of 39ha. The location of the museum proved to be extremely apt, and the area is a micro-scale reflection of the natural environment of Warmia and Mazury. For it is beautifully landscaped, with the Jemiołówka River flowing through the edge, there are also ponds, forest and swamp oases, cultivated fields, hay meadows and pastures. In addition, livestock enlivening the landscape: horses, including Polish horses of the tarpan family, cows, goats, sheep, rabbits, fowl.The collections of the MBL consist of - folk architecture (including small architecture) - more than 50 objects - museums presenting material culture - more than 2000 objects, library collections - more than 6000 volumes.
