  • The Central Museum of Fire Fighting in Myslowice is the result of the efforts of many generations of firefighters striving to create a facility depicting the history of fire protection in Polsce. It was created thanks to the initiative of the Silesian firefighting community, the administrative authorities of the region, which in 1974 established the Social Organizing Committee of the Museum. The Committee's work was crowned with the opening of the facility on September 14, 1975, with its headquarters in the buildings of the former German police prison on Powstańców Street. In January 1976, the Museum was granted the status of a state institution of supra-regional scope. In May 1991, the collections were moved to a newly built facility, the current headquarters of the Museum on Stadionowa Street. The Museum's collections are thematic collections that make up the documentation of the history of Polish firefighting. Chronologically, they include collections from the second half of the 19th century to the present day. The collections are supplemented by contemporary firefighting collections from other countries. Thematically, they represent objects of historical-artistic character and in the field of firefighting technology.
