  • Sailors call it the Masurian sea. On cloudy days it is difficult to see the opposite shore. Sniardwy has gained the respect of watermen not only because of its size, lecz also because of the dangers lurking here. This largest lake in Poland occupies an area of 11383.3 hectares, together with lakes Sexty, Warnołty and Kaczerajno. It is quite shallow - its average depth is estimated at less than 6m. It is full of shallows and large boulders, hidden just under the surface of the water. Strong winds here cause high waves to form quickly. Sniardwy is undoubtedly one of the biggest sailing attractions on the route of the Great Masurian Lakes.
