  • The plastic properties of wax allow the molding of accurate facial features reflecting the characters depicted in detail. This characteristic of wax has led to the use of theyst is used to carve so-called wax figures. Wax figures usually depict life-size people: -famous from public life, e.g. politicians, stars of cinema, music and sports (both living and deceased); -movie characters, e.g. Frodo Baggins from The Lord of the Rings or Shrek -persons with developmental disorders, e.g. well-known living (past or present) people with three eyes, a dog's face, etc. In Poland, Wax Figure Cabinets are located in Lodz, Miedzyzdroje, Poznan and Zakopane, among others. The Wax Figure Cabinet in Miedzyzdroje is really quite an attraction. Some of the 40 or so (their number is still growing) celebrities immortalized in wax look as if they were alive, ( the lighting additionally enhances this effect) and in case of doubt, plaques have been placed at most of them. There is Schrek, a movie star with huge breasts, a man with big feet, Hitler, John Paul II, Albert Einstein, Zeus or even the greatest terrorist of our time, Osama Bin Laden. The figures depicting unusual-looking people are hugely impressive. One might think that they are a creation of the imagination of the artist who made them. However, from the descriptive boards we learn that these strange-looking people really lived! Three Eyes was born in the 19th century in London. He loved to play poker. The spacing of his eyes gave him the ability to see in a 180-degree field, which helped him in the game, since his rivals couldn't afford card cheats. A four-eyed man, on the other hand, lived in Krikland, England. He had excellent eyesight and could move each eye separately in different directions. Also amazing is a figure representing Enni ? a woman who lived in the 19th century in Iceland. She developed normally, if not for the fact that instead of a nose, she had a snout. As an adult, she married and gave birth to healthy children. Right next to her stands a figure of a man with a head - a parasite. His name was Paskuale Inona. Both of his heads shared a brain, so the head-parasite did not perform any functions on its own, only blinked and moved its mouth. When this man ate, satisfaction appeared on the parasite's face. You can take a photo with the wax figures (you have to pay extra for the right to be photographed when you buy a ticket) - an amazing souvenir. The Cabinet of Wax Figures is located in close proximity to the city center, walking from the pier along the Bohaterow Warszawskich promenade along the sea you will find the House of Culture in which the Museum of Wax Figures is located. Children will have a great opportunity to see up close faithful replicas of celebrities and famous fairy tale characters. They include, among others: - Harry Potter - Jack Sparrow - Shrek - Fiona - Barbi - Gulliver.
