The Cathedral of the Assumption was built in the 15th century in the very heart of the city, becoming a landmark of Lowicz. The reconstructions that took place in the 17th and 18th centuries changed the GothicRenaissance-Baroque temple. The church has a basilican, three-nave layout with an elongated chancel. The representative character is emphasized by two towers in the western part, covered with Neo-Renaissance chelas, rusticated at the corners, and a decorative front elevation with a Baroque portal. The cathedral of Lowicz contains the tombs of twelve Polish primates. The temple has a rich Renaissance-Baroque interior design. The gilded altars and decorated chapels of the archbishops are valuable works of art. On the eastern side is a classicist bell tower, which was a gate in the past.
