  • Magical devices from bygone eras, lanterns with slides, a photoplasticon, a huge collection of cameras, projectors and film cameras, more than a thousand filmów on celluloid and video tapes, and a host of other exhibits. All this is housed in the former residence of Karol Scheibler, a well-known Lodz factory owner known as the "King of Cotton" - an eclectic palace built in 1885. The Lodz Museum of Cinematography is unique not only because it is the only such institution in the country. Impressive permanent collections, including a collection of posters from the 1920s and 1930s, prints and memorabilia relating to famous creators of Polish cinema, and equipment showing the technological development of cinema are just one side of the Lodz museum's activities.
