Central Museum of Textiles

The Central Museum of Textiles in Lodz is located in Ludwik Geyer's White Factory - one of the most important monuments of industrial architecture on the map of Poland. It is Europe's largest museum dedicated to textile, conducting scientific and research activities, as well as those of a cultural and educational nature. The impressive collection includes objects related to the history of textile industry: a rich collection of industrial and artistic textiles, as well as clothing and accessories. Since 1972, the Central Museum of Textiles has been the organizer of the most important exhibition related to the medium of textiles - the International Triennial of Textiles. The museum organizes many events and exhibitions, dedicated to the creators of artistic textiles, as well as exhibitions focusing on fashion. The most important ones that have so far graced the thresholds of the museum are "Jerzy Antkowiak - Young Poland", "Metamorphism" (Magdalena Abakanowicz), "Christian Dior and icons of Parisian fashion from the collection of Adam Leja". Visiting the permanent multimedia exhibition "Boiler Room - Interactive Museum" will certainly be a treat for lovers of old industrial Lodz. The exhibition, with the help of various films and animations, shows the evolution that the textile production process has undergone. Parents with children will also be pleased with the visit, thanks to a wide range of educational activities aimed at both children and adults. During the workshops, their participants can learn about the creative process and - through experimentation with expression - create their own work of art. Since 2009, the museum has hosted the "Geyer Music Factory" concert series. The courtyard also regularly hosts an outdoor cinema. An important part of the Central Textile Museum in Lodz is the Lodz City Culture Park. It consists of eight historical objects - buildings characteristic of Lodz in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Five wooden houses in the park feature the permanent exhibition "Lodz Microhistories. Human microhistories". Website: www.cmwl.pl
